Maynooth Film for All: Film Club screens The Pipe on Wednesday 2nd February
 
Irish film The Pipe, which was the winner of the best documentary award at 2010 Galway Film Fleadh, is Maynooth Film for All’s next screening on Wednesday 2nd  February in The New Lecture Theatre, Iontas Building, NUI Maynooth.

The film has just been nominated for an Irish Film and Television Award (IFTA) in the Best Feature Documentary category. Q&A with the film’s director Rachel Lysaght will follow.

The Pipe follows a small community in the west of Ireland, torn apart by the proposed Shell pipeline which could bring economic prosperity or destroy a way of life shared for generations.  Watch The Pipe trailer http://www.thepipethefilm.com/

*Date for your Diary* As part of Dublin International Film Festival 2011 the club will  screen Good Cake, Bad Cake on Wednesday 23rd February** After U2 conquered the world in the mid 80’s, a band called Lir was anointed as their most likely successors. Irish filmmaker Shimmy Marcus (Soulboy, Headrush) charts the bands highs and lows in this documentary, which will receive its world premiere at the festival
