Maynooth Film For All: THe Visitor

The Visitor

In a world of six billion people, it only takes one to change your life. Writer - Director Tom McCarthy’s second feature The Visitor is another sustained study of character development and human drama. Maynooth Film for All: Film Club will screen The Visitor on Wednesday next 28th April at 7.45pm in JHL2 NUI Maynooth.

Sixty-two-year-old Walter Vale is sleepwalking through his life. Having lost his passion for teaching and writing, he fills the void by unsuccessfully trying to learn to play classical piano. When his college sends him to Manhattan to attend a conference, Walter is shocked to find that a young couple have taken up residence in his apartment.

Obviously, the intruders are trespassing, but Walter is a decent enough guy to give them a break, and thus begins a subtle process by which destinies are interwoven and supposed barriers of class and nationality transcended.

Movies are screened in JHL2 lecture hall in the John Hume building, North Campus, NUIM. The programme starts at 7.45pm with an introduction from Dr Denis Condon NUIM. The featured film then begins at 8.00pm.
