Ann Egan

Ann Egan, a multi-award winning poet, whose prizes include: Writers’ Week Poetry Prizes; Annaghmakerrig Prize; Oki Prize; has held many writing residencies in counties, hospitals, schools, prisons. A former Kildare Writer-in-Residence, 2010  Laois Writer-in-Residence, a panellist on Writers-in-Schools; Writers-in-Prison. She was Writer-in-Residence in Naas  for – ‘If You Were In My Shoes.’

Her poems, broadcast on national radio, are widely published in Ireland, USA, England and elsewhere. Editor of several books, 2010 guest editor of, ‘The Midlands Arts and Culture Review,’ her books are: Landing the Sea; The Wren Women; Brigit of Kildare; Telling Time, (Bradshaw Books 2012). A recipient of Kildare Arts Awards and Laois Arts Awards, in 2013 she did a five city reading tour of France and Germany courtesy of The Arts Council and Culture Ireland. Her work is translated into German. In 2014 she will read at the Munich Poetry Festival.

Ann Egan is a perceptive and detailed nature poet. Her work is reflective and spiritual.

In her distinctive voice she merges her sensibility with the natural landscape, which she continues to interpret and to claim.
