Kildare County Council Arts Service presents a subsidised Summer Course for Primary Teachers

Interactive Dance: Practical Dance Teaching with ICT
(Summer Course Number: 361)

Approved by the Department of Education and Science for EPV days, this practical summer course explores creative approaches to curriculum delivery, with emphasis on the integration of ICT in teaching dance and movement.  Interactive Dance will be taught by Cathy O’Kennedy, Dance in Education Specialist.

Venue: Scoil Mhuire (Junior School) Ballymany, Newbridge, Co. Kildare

Date: Thursday 1 July to Wednesday 7 July 2010

Time:9.30am to 2.30pm each day

Through this 5-day course teachers will:

•        Build confidence and practical skills to create and develop their own syllabus
•        Examine the application of ICT and new technologies as a teaching tool
•        Progress their understanding of specific approaches, movement fundamentals and choreographic techniques
•        Incorporate a broad range of approaches and methodologies to realise curriculum objectives
•        Link dance to other areas of the curriculum
•        Examine application of work in relation to special education needs

The course will be a mixture of practical, hands on, dance workshops with theory back up and discussion. 

Demonstrating our ongoing commitment to Dance in Education we’re offering this course to teachers at a subsidised fee of €50 including 5 days tuition and tea/coffee.
