Announcing Culture Night 2011

 Announcing Culture Night 2011

The inaugural Culture Night in Co Kildare was a huge success, with 23 events spread across County Kildare.  A range of agencies including Coillte, NUI, Maynooth, The Japanese Gardens, Bat Conservation of Ireland and groups such as the Maynooth Gospel Choir, the County Kildare Orchestra embraced the night to bring new (or renewed) cultural experiences to its visitors.

The weather on Culture Night was cold and dry with clear skies and a full moon.  The events that took place outside got significant crowds such as the Bat Walk in Donadea, Steam Museum & Gardens by Candlelight, Mullaghcreelan Wood Moon Walk.  Events that were family friendly were very well received.

All of the organisations who participated in Culture Night feel it was beneficial to their organisation and are prepared to take part next year.  The majority of organisations reported that there were a number of first time visitors to their venue and that Culture Night and the publicity material were useful means to generate new interest in their facilities.
