Maynooth Film For All’s next screening Benda Billili!

benda bililli

Winner of the audience award at the 2011 Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, this French documentary brings street cred to the phrase “crowd- pleaser”. The story of a group of Congolese musicians, many disabled, who stormed the world music festivals of Europe, Benda Bilili! makes the toe tap as it wrings for tears.

This amiable documentary shows how they wend their way from African slum to European concert hall. The music itself plays out as an exuberant blend of blues and African rumba. It's the noise of the discarded: picked up, brushed down and made precious again.

Tickets are on sale from 7.30pm. Guest and on the night membership costs just €6.00. Credit card facilities will be available on the night. Students pay €2.00 at the door. Please arrive early to minimise delays
