Booking Now Open! 'If I had an Artist for a Day..' Primary School Arts in Education Programme 2015

Kildare County Council Arts Service announces the 2015 roll out of this very successful Primary School arts in education programme.  The Arts practitioners involved in If I Had an Artist for a Day... are experienced artists and educators. The programme offers a unique opportunity for the teacher, their class and the artist to collaborate and explore a range of quality child-led, child-focused arts workshops.

NEW FOR 2015

Wanna Make a Song?
Musician, composer and singer Imogen Gunner - invites children to brainstorm words or lines, engage their voices, use body and tuned percussion to gain a deeper understanding of melody, bass line and rhythm and have a go at song writing.

Wild Cards
Here's a great little workshop for younger children. This introduction to 3D modeling demonstrates how easy it can be - Artist Liz Smith reveals how a couple of simple folds and a dab of glue can transform a flat sheet of card into three dimensional animals.

Shadow Play
Or what about a fun and imaginative exploration of light and shadow for children from 7+. Following consultation between the class teacher and Artist Lorraine Walsh, children will use chalk, black card and other materials  to create their own shadow puppets (characters), themed around a story or poem being studied in class

Subsidised Fees
All workshops cost €300 per day. Schools must agree to pay 100% of the fees to the artist on the day of the workshop. Following completion and return of an evaluation form the Arts Service will reimburse the school 50% of the fees i.e. €150.00. Terms and Conditions will apply
