What is the purpose of the Festival Grant Scheme?

The purpose of the scheme is to assist voluntary groups who promote key festival events in County Kildare.

Who is eligible to apply under the Festival  Grant Scheme?

In order to be eligible under this scheme your group must be formally established and must be able to produce Articles of Association or Minutes of AGM/Meetings.

The  group  must be engaged in activities which encourage community participation, volunteerism and promote the well-being of communities and all funded festivals  must take place within the County.

When will the Festival Scheme for 2018 be advertised? 

The Festival Grant scheme will be advertised in mid January 2018.

What is the closing date for receipt of applications? 

13th March 2018 is the closing date for all Festival Grant Applications.

What is new on the 2018 application form?

The 2018 application form includes for the first time:-

- page 1 includes a brief description of the proposed project. 20 Words max please.

-details of your groups’ PPN Registration Number  (See separate question on this.)

-Grant Agreement Form This form must be signed by the group’s Treasurer and another member. Any grant awarded will not be paid out without the completion of this form.

What is the PPN for my group?

If you are registered on Kildare Participation Network (PPN) but do not know your number you can find same at http://www.kildareppn.ie/memberslist.asp.

If you are not registered, please visit the PPN website http://www.kildareppn.ie/index.asp and register your group now . It only takes 10 minutes.

What are the advantages to registering for PPN?

The PPN is the main link through which the local authority  connects with the community/ voluntary, social inclusion and environmental sectors. For any Group to qualify for Council supports it must quote its PPN Registration Number. This will assist to streamline grant applications and creates opportunities for exchange of information.

How can the group apply?

To make application for a grant the following must be submitted:

  • Fully completed and signed official Application form.  For a copy of this application form please click here.
  • A recent copy of the group’s Bank or Credit Union Statement showing the banks Sort Code and BIC and the groups IBAN and Account Number.
  • Tax Clearance details if relevant
  • All copies of receipts for spending from previous grants awarded must have been submitted to Community and Culture Department.  Copy of invoices is not accepted as proof of spend. Applications from groups, who have not complied with this requirement, will not be considered.  
  • Applications may be submitted by email to grants@kildarecoco.ie or to Community & Culture Department, Level 7, Aras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas ,Co.Kildare on or before  the closing date 13th March 2018.

Why does Kildare County Council need a copy of the group’s Bank or Credit Union Statement?

All payment of grants are made directly by EFT into your Bank or Credit Union Account. In order to verify the account details we require proof of this. You may simply send us the heading of a statement with the balance amounts blanked out.

We sent a Bank/Credit Union Statement last year, do we need to send another?

Yes, our Accounts Department will close the groups account after each year. To reactivate the account we require confirmation of your groups bank details, a bank statement is the most convenient way to ensure we have the correct bank details.

What activities are not funded under the Festival Grant Scheme?

Activities which are not eligible include:

  • Festivals run by Commercial organisations.
  • Competitive events - where competition is the main element.
  • Charity and fund raising events.
  • Bouncing castles.
  • Ongoing running costs, administration etc.

 

What are the criteria for assessing Festival Grants?

Grant applications will be assessed using the following criteria :-

  • The level of community participation in the project.
  • The use of innovations or imaginative approaches.
  • The capacity of the group to carry out the proposed project.
  • The quality of the application.
  • The extent of local contributions to the proposed project.
  • Final Approval of the grant will be given by the elected members of Kildare County Council.

 

What is the maximum grant awarded for Festival Grant?

The maximum Festival Grant is €2,000.  However, there is no guarantee that the maximum grant will be awarded.

How will we be notified of the outcome of our application?

Once the applications have been fully assessed, a report is presented before the relevant   Municipal District Council Meeting  in April 2018, where final approval of applications is made. 

The Community and Culture Department will then issue a letter of award via email and/or post informing the group of amount successfully awarded. 

If your application is not successful you will received a letter explaining why your group was not awarded a grant.

How will the grant be paid?

All payments from Kildare County Council will be paid by EFT directly into the group’s bank or Credit Union Account. Post Office Accounts are not acceptable.

Your Treasurer’s contact details (including email address)  must be submitted on the application, as a remittance advice will only be sent to your group’s treasurer.

What other conditions must my group comply with?

  • It will be a condition of funding that the contribution of the grant from Kildare County Council is acknowledged in any promotional material associated with the project.

 

  • On completion of projects official receipts marked “Paid" must be submitted together with a full project report detailing how the grant was utilised and how it benefitted the group, including photographs and a statement of income and expenditure. Copy of invoices is not accepted as proof of spend. Future applications will not be considered if this condition has not been met.

 

  • All funded festivals must take place within County Kildare.

 

  • Any monies unspent must be returned to Kildare County Council.

 

  • No double funding from Kildare County Council sources will be allowed. However, groups can choose to combine this scheme with grant aid other than from KCC

 

  • All applications must be made on an official application form and submitted to Kildare County Council by email  grants@kildarecoco.ie or to Community & Culture Department, Level 7, Áras Chill Dara, Naas, Co Kildare.
