Kildare has lots to offer as part of ‘In This Together’ campaign

Kildare County Council is offering a range of activities and resources as part of a new “In This Together” initiative, launched by An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar on Friday (April 24)

The campaign aims to help everyone in Ireland to Stay Connected, Stay Active, and look after their Mental Health throughout the Covid-19 Emergency.

The Campaign encourages everyone to set a new daily activity which helps them to feel a little healthier or a little happier as we deal with Covid-19. It signposts useful advice to help people of every age group to cope with the ongoing restrictions, whether they are looking after children, dealing with self-isolation, preparing for the Leaving Cert, or coping with cabin fever.

In This Together draws together a huge range of activities that you can pursue in your home or your locality, by yourself or with family members or with friends online. There are ideas and activities for people of all ages. Just some highlights include:

 

  • KSP have launched a series of Sports Stars videos on mental health & wellness aimed at addressing difficulties faced during the Pandemic.
  • Arts service have a live stream concert and a sing-along initiative aimed at residents of Nursing Home & anyone experiencing loneliness or isolation, led by Sadhbh O'Sullivan,
  • Kildare Sports Partnership are giving Free work out classes and inclusive exercise classes aimed at Adults, children, teenagers, older persons and those with limited mobility.

In This Together also draws together the huge range of advice and support that is available online for people of all ages, including:

  • Online library services remain open 24/7, including eBook, eMagazine, eComic & eAudiobook lending, music streaming, online educational courses and language learning
  • Let’s Play Ireland is a whole of Government campaign to highlight the importance of play for children, particularly in the challenging time and to provide information and resources for families to support their children’s play.
  • As part of the Toys, Technology and Training (TTT) Programme 2020, which supports children and adults with learning difficulties or disabilities facilitators have delivered their talks/ workshops via our social media platforms. Recent and upcoming talks include the topics of 'Primary School and Dyspraxia', speech and language therapy and an upcoming talk on AHD by ADHD Ireland.

The initiative brings together National Government, local government, Government Agencies, community and voluntary sectors, and the Community Call Forums around the country.
