HIGHER EDUCATION GRANT SCHEME

Kildare County Council deals with Honours Level Degree Courses and Postgraduate Courses.  Kildare V.E.C. accepts applications for P.L.C. Certificate & Diploma (Ordinary Level Degree) Courses.  Part-time Courses or Courses in private colleges are not covered under the terms of the Department of Education Higher Education Grant Scheme.

Please note the closing date for receipt of applications for the Higher Education Scheme was Thursday, 31st December 2009.

Change of Circumstances

As you are aware the means test for a grant application is normally based on the students or their family's income in the last full financial year which, for the current year, is 2008.  However, if you or your family have had a change of circumstances in the meantime that is likely to be permanent, then your eligibility for the grant may be assessed to reflect those permanent changed circumstances.  For example, if a dependent student's parent experiences a permanent change in income level (through reduction in working hours, unemployment, etc.) then they can apply to have their eligibility for a grant re-assessed on the basis of the new income level.
