20. Councillors S. Doyle and O’ Loughlin

That the Council should investigate the need to amend the County Development Plan on the basis of sound medical/ scientific evidence to require the undergrounding of high voltage electricity cabling in certain circumstances.

 

21. Councillor S. Doyle

That the roads department give us a report on the effectiveness of the recent regulations imposed by the Health and Safety Authority on Kildare County Council by determining if the incident of accidents has decreased since their implementation.

That this Council condemns the recent Government budget decision to remove medical cards from over 70 year olds and the refusal to reverse this decision in total.

That an additional recycling bin be provided free of charge to businesses who require

same in order to encourage recycling.

 

 

24. Councillor Murphy

That Kildare County Council provide a report on its records management strategy, both soft and hard records; the report should include how robust that strategy is in relation to retrieving records under the freedom of information act(s); is the employment on a part time basis of a professional archivist sufficient if not how are the shortcomings overcome; how the strategy fits in with responses to citizens, business or community groups following contact by them with the Council and any proposed improvements intended in this regard.

The review of the Regional Planning Guidelines will commence next January, currently reviews of Town Plans are taking place and are required to have regard to the Regional Planning Guidlines as they stand however some are projecting population figures to 2016 even prior to the review commencing. This motion seeks an overview on the current Regional Guidelines and how they should be interpreted, how they fit with our current Development Plan and what changes, if any, should be expected in the next generation of Regional Guidelines.

That this Council calls on the Government to reverse the massive cuts in education funding in the recent budget in particular the decision to increase class sizes, which will cause at least 1500 teachers to lose their jobs.
