The new septic tank charge, (or domestic wastewater treatment systems registration to give it it's full title) is now in place. There are a number of ways to register for this:

Sign on at protectourwater.ie and pay online.

Get an application form at all Council offices and libraries and post it to Protect Our Water, PO Box 12204, Dublin 7

Complete an application form at the Main offices of the Council at  Aras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas. If you have a completed form you can go to the cash desk on level two. If you have any queries, go to the environment section on level four.

 All septic tanks and other types of treatment and disposal systems for domestic waste water should be registered not later than 1st February 2013.

Please note that no inspections will commence before 2013. Householders should take care not to allow uninvited persons, or persons claiming to be septic tank inspectors, to enter onto their property inadvance of the launch of inspections. Householders will be formally notified by their localauthority if their domestic waste water treatment system is to be inspected and inspectors will berequired to carry identification and to present this on request to householders.
