Repak ELT is a not for profit organisation, working under approval from the Department of Communication, Climate Action and Environment (DCCAE) to operate the compliance scheme for tyres in Ireland.

Repak ELT is a not for profit organisation, working under approval from the Department of Communication, Climate Action and Environment (DCCAE), to operate the compliance scheme for tyres in Ireland. Repak ELT is a sister company to Repak, who has successfully operated the compliance scheme for packaging since 1997. Repak, with the help of our members, has diverted over 10 million tonnes of used packaging from landfill since 1997 and has helped to grow packaging recycling and recovery from under 15% in 1998 to 91% in 2017.

The Repak ELT compliance scheme for tyres is a Producer Responsibility Initiative (PRI). Along with the packaging scheme operated by Repak, a PRI for electrical goods (WEEE) and batteries has been in operation for 9 years in Ireland. These compliance models track all goods coming onto the market, where a visible Environmental Management Cost (vEMC) is applied and then passed through the distribution chain.

From October 1st 2017 all tyre operators are obliged to join the compliance scheme and charge the relevant vEMC.

Repak ELT’s mission is to provide legal compliance for our members under the Waste Management (Tyres and Waste Tyres) Regulations 2017.

Repak ELT’s focus is to provide a cost effective system and deliver responsible and environmentally sound recovery and recycling solutions.
