Notice of Intention to Make Bye-Laws

Kildare County Council (Control of Consumption & Possession of Alcohol in Public Places) Bye-Laws 2019

Kildare County Council proposes to make bye-laws under Section 199(1) and Section 131 of the Local Government Act 2001 as inserted by Section 131A and 131B of the Local Government Reform Act 2014, for the control of consumption and possession of alcohol in public places in the County of Kildare. These proposed bye-laws include provision for the serving of a notice on a person found to be in contravention, specifying a fixed payment to be paid, the non-payment of which will result in a prosecution in respect of any offence committed.

A copy of the draft Kildare County Council (Control of Consumption & Possession of Alcohol in Public Places) Bye-Laws 2019 may be viewed on the Council’s website: www.kildarecoco.ie or inspected during the period (4 weeks) from Wednesday, 26 June 2019 to Wednesday, 24 July 2019 (both dates inclusive) at the following locations during normal business hours:

  • Corporate Services Department (Level 1), Kildare County Council, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas
  • Athy Customer Service Point, Rathstewart, Athy, Co. Kildare
  • Local libraries in Athy, Ballitore, Castledermot, Celbridge, Clane, Clocha Rince, Kilcock, Kilcullen, Kildare Town, Leixlip, Maynooth, Monasterevin, Naas, Newbridge and Rathangan.

Submissions or observations on the proposed bye-laws may be made:

  • by email to customerservice@kildarecoco.ie  or
  • in writing to Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Services Department, Kildare County Council, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas

Closing date for receipt of  submissions/observations is 5.00 p.m. on Wednesday, 7 August 2019.
