Kildare County Council invites applications for future rounds of funding under the Local Improvement Scheme (LIS).

The LIS is a scheme to support the improvement of non-public rural roads which provide access to homes and farms, as well as amenities such as lakes and rivers. Up to 90% of the funding is provided, with the balance coming from local residents.

The scheme is subject to strict criteria and conditions set down by the Department of Rural and Community Development.

Principally qualifying roads must:-

  • Be of benefit to agricultural production and benefit two or more parcels of land owned or occupied by different persons engaged in separate agricultural activities.
  • Provide access for harvesting purposes (including turf or seaweed) for two or more persons separately engaged in such activities.
  • There must be more than one landholder on an LIS road and the road must be open to the public.

Full details and application forms may be obtained from Kildare County Council, Roads & Transportation Department, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas.  Tel. (045) 980421, or on the website http://kildare.ie/CountyCouncil/Forms/RoadsandTransportation/

For applications to be considered for funding under this scheme in 2019 they must be submitted by Thursday, 28  February 2019 at 5:00 p.m.
