Traffic Calming Measures at Kilcock

PROPOSED TRAFFIC CALMING MEASURES AT KILCOCK
SECTION 38 OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 1994

In accordance with the provisions of Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994,
Kildare County Council hereby gives notice of proposed works to include:
It is proposed to implement a one-way system (Westbound only) in Kilcock, along Harbour Street from the corner of the AIB Bank to Shaw Bridge.  Traffic entering Kilcock from the Courtown side will no longer be permitted to turn right onto Harbour Street at Shaw Bridge.  Eastbound traffic will have to travel down Bridge Street and turn right onto New Lane, and then through the Square to turn left at the bottom of New Street at the AIB bank.
These works are being proposed to improve the free flow of traffic entering onto Harbour Street (R148) at the AIB bank, and to ease congestion at Shaw Bridge.
It is also proposed to impose restrictions on through traffic down School Street, and only permit cyclists and vehicles accessing the residences and businesses on School Street from using the street.  It will remain one-way in a northbound direction.
The proposed implementation date for all these works is Wednesday, 1 September 2010.
A drawing showing the proposed works may be inspected at the public counter of Kildare County Council, Transportation and Public Safety Department Level 4, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co. Kildare during office hours (9am to 5pm), Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays, and at Kilcock Library, New Lane, Kilcock, during normal library opening hours, from Thursday 22 July 2010.
Representations relating to the above mentioned proposed works may be made in writing to the Senior Executive Officer, Transportation and Public Safety Department, Kildare County Council, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co. Kildare. The latest date for receipt of such representations is 12 noon on Monday 9 August, 2010.
