Kildare Readers’ Festival 2011
Kildare Readers’ Festival 2011 will take place from 13 to 15 May in Riverbank Arts Centre, Newbridge, Co. Kildare. A full weekend of literary delights for bookworms, writers and readers alike. The festival will include author readings and interviews, a walking tour, poetry, music and an opportunity to meet with other book lovers.
This year the festival welcomes Peter Murphy, John the Revelator, in conversation with Maria Doyle Kennedy, Kevin Barry and a crime event with Alex Barclay, Arlene Hunt, Ava McCarthy and Declan Burke. Turtle Bunbury and James Fennell of the Vanishing Ireland project will present a fascinating hour of conversation and photography and Bee Rowlatt, Talking About Jane Austen in Baghdad, will present a session on her book with television and radio producer Yvonne Nolan.
Dermot Bolger, Carlo Gébler and Peter Sheridan will host an event called Parents and Other Strangers and one of Ireland’s most popular authors Cathy Kelly will read from her latest novel.
There will be various musical events over the weekend with Lorcán Mac Mathúna, Daire O Breacáín, The Slovak Festival Orchestra, Ellen Cranitch and Denise Kelly and poetry from John McAuliffe and Leanne O’ Sullivan.
