Household Charge

 Household Charge

The €100 Household Charge must be paid by 31 March 2012.

The Household Charge is an annual charge introduced by the Local Government (Household Charge) Act 2011 which is payable by owners of residential property.

The €100 charge will go towards paying for essential services in Co Kildare; fire and emergency services, maintenance and cleaning of streets, planning and development, public parks, street lighting, public open spaces and leisure amenities. These facilities benefit everyone.

Payments can be made:

On line at by credit card or debit card;

By post to Household Charge, PO Box 12168, Dublin 1;

In person at the Finance Department, Kildare County Council.

If the €100 Household Charge is not paid by 31st March late payment fees and late payment interest will apply, during the period the household charge remains unpaid.

A limited number of exemptions and waivers from payment apply and these and other frequently asked questions (FAQs) can be checked on line at the websites listed below or by calling Kildare County Council. [NB. Waivers are not based on income].
