North Leixlip Sewerage Scheme - Natura Impact Statement

North Leixlip Sewerage Scheme

Section 177AE of the Planning and Development Acts, 2000 to 2011 (as inserted by section 57 of the Planning and Development (Amendment) Act 2010)

Under and in accordance with section 177AE of the Planning and Development Acts, 2000 to 2011 (as inserted by section 57 of the Planning and Development (Amendment) Act 2010), Kildare County Council hereby gives notice that it proposes to apply to An Bord Pleanála for approval of the following proposed development:

The North Leixlip Sewerage Scheme, comprising :-

(a) The laying of 4.2km of new sewerage pipeline, including approximately 1.9km of 450mm diameter rising main and approximately 2.3km of 750mm gravity sewer and ancillary works between Collinstown, and Leixlip Wastewater Treatment Plant, passing through the townlands of Leixlip, Confey, Newtown (Leixlip ED), St. Catherine’s and St. Catherine’s Park, Co. Kildare;

(b) Provision for special tunnel crossings as follows :-

- under the Rye Water River at Leixlip,

- under the R149 regional public road at Newtown north of Cope Bridge (Leixlip ED),

- under the Dublin - Sligo railway line at Confey and the Royal Canal at Confey.

A Natura impact statement has been prepared in respect of the proposed development.

A copy of the Natura impact statement can be inspected free of charge between office hours (i.e 9.00am – 5.00pm, Monday – Friday, excluding public holidays) during the period from 24 February, 2012 to 17 April, 2012 inclusive at the public counter of Water Services section, on level 6 of the offices of Kildare County Council, Aras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co. Kildare. A copy of the Natura impact statement can be purchased in hard copy for a fee of €15.00 at the same location.

Any person, within the period from 24 February, 2012 to 17 April, 2012 inclusive, is invited to make submissions and/or observations, free of charge, to An Bord Pleanála, 64 Marlborough Street, Dublin 1 relating to:

(I) the implications of the proposed development for proper planning and sustainable development in the area concerned,

(II) the likely effects on the environment of the proposed development, and

(III) the likely significant effects of the proposed development on a European site,

if carried out.

An Bord Pleanála may give approval to the application for development with or without conditions or may refuse the application for development.
