PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS 2001 (as amended) - PART 8

SITE LOCATION: Market Square, Naas, Co. Kildare

Market Square Bus Hub, Naas

Pursuant to the requirements of the above, notice is hereby given of proposals to provide improved public transport facilities at Market Square Naas, while also enhancing the public realm and streetscape. These improvements will help make the public transport services and the existing street more accessible for all.

The objectives of the project are to:

Provide a safe and attractive infrastructure to encourage greater use of sustainable travel modes for trips to work, education, and for recreation.Provide for improved bus-set down facilities and waiting environment for public transport users.Make the best use of the available space to accommodate the needs of bus users, pedestrians, cyclists, loading, taxi and parking bay activity as well as general through traffic.Improve the public realm of the area to an appropriate standard in keeping with the character of the Naas Town Centre and its location within an Architectural Conservation Area.

Naas Town Centre is a designated Architectural Conservation Area.

In accordance with S. I. 476, 2011, Section 250, Planning and Development

(Amendment) (No.3) Regulations 2011 Kildare County Council has determined that an Appropriate Assessment is not required.

Plans and particulars of the proposed scheme will be available for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy during normal opening hours from Tuesday 22 July until Tuesday 2 September 2014 at the following locations:

  • Roads, Transport and Public Safety Department, Kildare County Council, Level 4, at the address below
  • Naas Library, Harbour View, Naas, Co Kildare

Plans and particulars of the proposed scheme will also be available to view on the council’s website at www.kildarecountycouncil.ie/roadsandtransportation/PartVIII

Submissions and observations with respect to the proposed development and dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the proposed development would be situated may be made in writing to:

Senior Executive Officer, Roads Transport and Public Safety Department,

Kildare County Council, at the address below on or before 12 noon Friday 19 September 2014.

Market Square Bus Hub, Naas

All comments, including names of those making comments, submitted to the council in regard to this scheme will form part of the statutorily required report to be presented to the monthly meeting of Kildare County Council. Accordingly they will also be included in the minutes of that meeting and may appear in the public domain.
