Ray D’Arcy takes over as Chairman of Kildare Sports Partnership

Kildare native Ray D’Arcy was installed as the new Kildare Sports Partnership Chairman at a meeting in Kildare County Council on Tuesday, 9th September. Ray takes over from outgoing Chairman Niall Quinn, who will continue to act as an Ambassador for the Partnership.

“It is a privilege to be asked to Chair the Kildare Sports Partnership Committee. I feel very strongly about getting people active and I hope to do more about it through my new role with the KSP”, Mr D’Arcy said.

Niall Quinn welcomed Ray saying that he hoped he enjoys the role as much as he had and said he was committed to continuing as an Ambassador for the Sports Partnership and to help the good work that is being done.

New Chief Executive of Kildare County Council, Mr Peter Carey, also attended the meeting and thanked Ray on behalf of the Council for agreeing to take on the role and wished him every success. He said that the Council were fully committed to their continued support of the Sports Partnership initiative. He was also hugely complimentary of the work that Niall had done thanking him for the tremendous profile he had brought to the Sports Partnership stating that the Council were very grateful.

Kildare Sports Partnership Coordinator, Syl Merrins, thanked Niall for his contribution over the last four years and said he was delighted that he would continue on as an Ambassador. He welcomed Ray stating that the work he had already done through the media in promoting sport and physical activity was excellent and a perfect fit for what the KSP were trying to achieve.
