Christmas and New Year Arrangements 2015

CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR ARRANGEMENTS

Our essential and emergency services will continue in operation all through the Christmas and New Year holiday period, protecting the health and safety of County Kildare's citizens. Some services will be subject to restriction, and details of these appear below.

Offices

Kildare County Council will close at 5.00 pm on Wednesday, 23 December and will reopen on Tuesday, 29 December at 9.00 am. Closed Friday, 1 January.

Motor Tax

Wednesday, 23 December             open from 9.15 am to 3.15 pm

Thursday, 24 December                 closed

Friday, 25 December                      closed

Monday, 28 December                   closed

Tuesday, 29December                   open from 9.15 am to 3.15 pm

Wednesday, 30 December             open from 9.15 am to 3.15 pm

Thursday, 31 December                 closed to public for annual stock-take

Friday, 1 January                            closed

Monday, 4 January                         open from 9.15 am to 3.15 pm as normal

Planning Applications

The Planning Department of Kildare County Council will close at 12 noon on Wednesday, 23 December. The Planning Department will be open on Tuesday, 29 December, Wednesday, 30 December and Thursday, 31 December but cannot accept planning applications, submissions etc. on these dates. Normal planning services will resume from 9.00 am on Monday, 4 January 2016.

Pay Parking

Kildare Town

There will be free parking in Kildare Town from 4.00 pm Friday, 18 December 2015 to 10.00 am Monday, 4 January 2016. Illegal parking will continue to be enforced.

Celbridge and Leixlip

There will be a suspension of pay parking bye-laws in Celbridge and Leixlip from 4.00 pm Wednesday, 16 December 2015 to 10.00 am Monday, 4 January 2016.

Athy

There will be free parking in Athy from 5.00 pm Friday, 4 December 2015 until 9.00 am Monday, 4 January 2016. Illegal parking will continue to be enforced.

Naas

There will be free parking in Naas from Friday, 18 December 2015 to Monday, 4 January 2016 inclusive. Illegal parking will continue to be enforced.

Newbridge- GAA Car Park ONLY

No enforcement of pay parking on Saturday, 19 December, Wednesday, 23 December and Thursday, 24 December in the GAA car park ONLY. Illegal parking will continue to be enforced.

Enforcement times remain 8.30 am to 6.30 pm Monday to Saturday excluding public holidays.

Parking Fines

Fines issued on or after Thursday, 24 December will not be available for payment at the cash office, online or using the automated telephone service until Tuesday, 29 December. After this date, payments return to normal.

Libraries

All main branches will close on Wednesday, 23 December at normal times.

Library headquarters at Riverbank Arts Centre will close on Wednesday, 23 December at 5.00 pm. All main branches will re-open on Tuesday, 29 December at their normal times.Library headquarters will re-open on Tuesday, 29 December. All libraries and library headquarters will be closed on Friday, 1 January 2016.

Christmas Recycling

Christmas trees can be left for recycling at the following locations from Monday, 4 January to Friday, 29 January 2016:

  • Athy, Meeting Lane
  • Clane, GAA Club
  • Kill, GAA Club
  • Council Depot, Leinster Street, Maynooth
  • Naas, Monread
  • Council Nursery, Naas Road, Newbridge

      (between Pfizer and Toughers, site can be reached by driving towards Naas)

The two Kildare recycling centres will be open for most of the Christmas period. You can recycle extra packaging and a wide range of other items at these facilities.

Don’t forget to recycle all your glass bottles, jars and drink cans at your nearest recycling bank. Please remember not to leave any boxes or bags at these sites and if the banks are full, do not leave any glass or cans around the banks. We will be working to maintain these sites over the Christmas period but need your assistance in doing so.
