Temporary Road Closure - Notice of Intention - TriAthy Triathlon

TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE

ROADS ACT 1993

NOTICE OF INTENTION

TriAthy Triathlon 2015

Kildare County Council hereby gives notice in accordance with Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993 that it intends to close:

  • The R417 from Athy N78 Junction to Maganey Crossroads L4009
  • The L8084 Levitstown to Kilkea Road
  • The L8085 Shed Road
  • The R418 Kilkea to Castledermot Road

From 8.30a.m. to 8.00p.m. on Saturday, 30 May 2015.

Alternative routes:

Traffic travelling north from Carlow towards Athy on R417 will be diverted at Maganey via L4009 into Castledermot, then onto the R448 to Hobartstown L8050/L8049 into Kilkea and R418 to Athy.

Traffic travelling south to Carlow will be diverted onto R418 Castledermot Road to Kilkea, then L8049/L8050 Hobartstown Road to R448 Carlow Road.

And also close:

  • The roads to the south of Emily Square, to the south and to the west of the Town Hall, including junction with the R417 Carlow Road and as far as Barrow Quay.
  • Barrow Quay between Leinster Street and Emily Square, and the back square.
  • The road to the west of Emily Square including the junction with Leinster Street, and the road to the south of Emily Square (at the front of the Town Hall) including the junction with the R417 Carlow Road).

From 6.00p.m. on Friday, 29 May 2015 to 10.00p.m. on Saturday, 30 May 2015.

Please visit www.triathy.com for further information and to register for real-time SMS updates on road closures during the event. The closures are required to facilitate the Tri-Athy Triathlon 2015. Adequate signage will be in place as agreed with the council and An Garda Síochána. Emergency access will be maintained at all times.

Any objections/observations should be lodged in writing to the Acting Senior Executive Officer, Roads,Transport and Public Safety Department, Kildare County Council, Áras Chill Dara, at the address below on or before 5.00p.m. on Tuesday, 12 May 2015.
