Kilcock Housing Contract

Contract Signed for Construction of Council Houses in Kilcock

Kildare County Council has signed a contract with Kercon Construction of Donaghpatrick, Navan, County Meath for the construction of 20 houses at Kilcock.

The contract duration is 11 months, with works to commence on site prior to Christmas.  The contract value is € 3 million (incl. VAT).  The scheme will complete the final phase of development at the Highfield estate.

Welcoming the scheme on Monday 28th November, Deputy Mayor of Kildare, Cllr Billy Hillis stated “Today sees the signing of the first contract for the construction of Council houses in a number of years.   Pillar 2 of the Governments Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness specifically deals with accelerating the delivery of social housing.   I look forward to other signings for more schemes throughout the County in the next number of months”

The Chief Executive of Kildare County Council, Mr. Peter Carey, pointed out that Kildare has been active in other facets of the provision of social housing in the last year, including the acquisition of houses and the successful roll- out of the Housing Assistance Programme (HAP).  It was, he noted, “great to look forward to seeing the building and completion of new Council homes”

The Cathaoirleach of the Maynooth Municipal District, Cllr Brendan Weld commented that while welcoming the signing of the contract today, he was also looking forward to other developments in the Municipal District, including the advancing of the Anne Street, Prosperous scheme, which is currently proceeding through the Part VIII planning process.
