Temporary Road Closure-Rathcoole Bridge

 Temporary Closing of Roads

(Evening and Night Closures)

Notice of Intention

Roads Act 1993

Kildare County Council, acting on behalf of South Dublin County Council under a Section 85 Agreement (Local Government Act 2001), hereby gives notice that, in accordance with Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, it proposes to close the road described as follows:

Road to be Closed: The R120 at Rathcoole Bridge, Rathcoole, Co. Dublin

Dates of Closure:   Monday 22 to Friday 26 August 2016, and

Monday 29 to Wednesday 31 August 2016.

Hours of Closure:  7p.m. to 6 a.m. each day

This closure is required to facilitate bridge rehabilitation works on Rathcoole Bridge, Rathcoole, Co. Dublin.

Diversion Route:

Rathcoole to Greenogue:

Divert from roundabout at bridge onto L2004 towards Rathcoole. Continue for approximately 1km through Rathcoole village and merge onto N7 dual carriageway at An Poitín Still Restaurant. Continue southbound on N7 for approximately 3.5km and take exit at Junction 5, Blackchurch. Cross over the bridge at Junction 5, take first exit off the roundabout and merge onto N7 northbound towards Dublin. Continue northbound on N7 for approximately 3.5km and take exit at Junction 4 for Rathcoole.

Greenogue to Rathcoole:

Divert from roundabout at bridge onto N7 towards Dublin. Merge onto N7 and continue northbound for approximately 2.5km. Take exit at Junction 3, City West, and cross over the bridge towards City West. At roundabout, take third exit and merge onto N7. Continue southbound on N7 for approximately 2.5km and take exit at Junction 4 for Rathcoole.

There will be no through traffic across the bridge during this period; however, local access will be maintained on roads adjacent to the bridge at all times.
