Notice of proposal to make Kildare County Council (Newbridge) Control of Horses Bye-Laws 2016

The Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District Committee (Kildare County Council) of the County of Kildare in exercise of the powers conferred on it by the Control of Horses Act 1996, the Control of Horse Regulations 1997 and the Local Government Reform Act 2014 hereby gives notice of its intention to make bye-laws for the regulation of the control of horses in respect of the urban area of Newbridge (as defined in the draft Bye-Laws).

The County Council of County Kildare (Control of Horses) (No. 1) Bye-Laws, 2000 will be revoked to the extent that they relate to Newbridge, but otherwise shall remain in full force and effect.

The draft Bye-Laws, called the 'Kildare County Council (Newbridge) Control of Horses Bye-Laws 2016' have been prepared and may be inspected during normal opening hours from Tuesday, 23 February 2016 to Wednesday, 30 March 2016 at:

  • Kildare County Council, Environment Section, at the address below,
  • Newbridge Library, Athgarvan Road, Newbridge

The draft bye-laws can also be viewed online on the Council's website here and copies are also available free of charge on request from the Environment Section.

Written submissions and observations may be made to the Senior Executive Officer, Kildare County Council, Environment Section, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co. Kildare or by email to (clearly marked 'Proposed Newbridge Control of Horses Bye-Laws') on or before 4.00 p.m. Wednesday, 13 April 2016.
