Proposed Community Skatepark-Newbridge

Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended) - Part 8

Proposed Development:  Community Skateboard Park

Site Location:  Moorefield Park / Moorefield Road, Newbridge

Pursuant to the requirements of the above, notice is hereby given of a proposal by Kildare County Council for the development of a community skatepark within the grounds of the open space adjacent to Moorefield Road, Moorefield Park Estate and Woodies car park, Newbridge. The skatepark will occupy an area of 500sq.m approximately. The height of structures within the skatepark will not be more than 2.0m. The proposals will also include the removal and relocation of an existing path and lighting to facilitate the location of the skatepark. It is also proposed to install new paths & lighting across the open space and to widen the existing central path from 1.2m to 1.8m. The proposal also includes plans to be remove 8 no. trees to accommodate both the skatepark, the realigned park and the new paths. Replanting of 11 no. trees to compensate for the removals are also proposed. 

Plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy during the period from Thursday 6 October 2016 until Friday 11 November 2016, at

Kildare County Council, Community and Culture Department (Level 7), at the address below, Monday to Friday 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

During library open hours.

An informal drop in information session will also be held in Newbridge Town Hall on Wednesday 16 November 2016 from 6.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. Kildare County Council Parks Section will be there to answer any questions interested parties may have on the proposals.

Submissions and observations with respect to the proposed development and dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated, may be made in writing to Simon Wallace, Senior Executive Parks Superintendent, Kildare County Council, Devoy Park, Naas, Co. Kildare or by email before 4.00 p.m. on 25 November 2016.  Submissions should be clearly headed Newbridge Community Skatepark”.
