Extension to Rathangan Cemetery, Rathangan, Co. Kildare

Notice of Proposed Development by Kildare County Council

Planning and Development Acts 2000 (as amended) - Part XI

Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended) - Part VIII


Pursuant to the requirements of the above, notice is hereby given that Kildare County Council proposes to extend the burial ground at Rathangan Cemetery, Rathangan, County Kildare.

The site area of 0.75 Hectares is located north of the existing cemetery.  The proposed extension will provide an additional 789 burial plots (lawn finish), Columbarium wall (cremated remains), new car park to cater for 38 number vehicles, new vehicular and pedestrian access, environmental enhancements and associated works.

Plans and particulars of the proposed extension will be available for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy during normal opening hours from Tuesday, 7 March, 2017 until Friday, 21 April, 2017 at the following locations:

  • Environment Department,  Level 4, Kildare County Council, at the address below
  • Rathangan Library, Canal Court, Rathangan, Co. Kildare
  • Kildare County Council’s website

Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and development of the area in which the proposed development would be situated may be made in writing to: Senior Executive Officer, Environment Section, Kildare County Council, at the address below on or before 12.00 noon on Friday, 5 May, 2016. Submissions should be headed - “Extension to Rathangan Cemetery”

All submissions or observations, including names and addresses of those making submissions or observations, submitted to the Council in regard to this project will form part of the statutory report to be presented to the monthly meeting of the Kildare/Newbridge Municipal District Committee (Kildare County Council). Accordingly, they will also be included in the minutes of that meeting and may appear in the public domain.
