Statutory Notice of Intention - Temp. Road Closure - M9 Junction 4

Temporary Closing of Roads

(Evening and Overnight Closures)

Notice of Intention

Roads Act 1993

Kildare County Council gives notice, in accordance with Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, that it intends to close:

Road to be Closed: Junction 4 (Castledermot) on the M9 Motorway.

Entry and Exit slip roads only and the R448 through Junction 4.

Date of closures:

Monday, 14 September 2020 to Friday, 18 September 2020 nightly

and

Monday, 21 September 2020 to Friday, 25 September 2020 nightly

Hours of closure: 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

The closure is required to facilitate the resurfacing of the junction pavement on the junction roundabouts only. Note: The M9 motorway will remain open.

Diversion routes: -

All traffic to divert via M9 Junction 5 (Carlow).

For Carlow & Prumplestown/Areas West of M9 Junction 4

Traffic to divert via Junction 5 (Carlow), following the N80 to Carlow. On the Carlow ring road (N80), at the first roundabout take the 3rd exit to stay on the N80. Continue straight through the second roundabout, staying on the N80. At the third roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto the R448. Continue straight on the R448 for 7 kilometres to Prumplestown/M9 Junction 4.

For Castledermot & Areas East of M9 Junction 4

Traffic to divert via Junction 5 (Carlow), following the N80 to Carlow. On the Carlow ring road (N80) at the first roundabout, take the 3rd exit to stay on the N80. At the second roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the R726. Continue along the R726 for 9 kilometers to Killerrig Cross. Turn left at Killerrig Cross (signposted Castledermot) onto the R418. Continue straight on the R418 for 8 kilometres to Castledermot. At the T junction, turn left onto the R448, then travel straight for 2 kilometres on the R448 to M9 Junction 4.

Local and emergency access will be allowed at all times. Diversionary routes, as agreed with An Garda Síochána, will be clearly signposted.

Any objections/submissions should be lodged in writing to the Senior Executive Officer, Roads, Transportation & Public Safety, Level 4, Kildare County Council, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co. Kildare or e-mailed to roadssubmissions@kildarecoco.ie by or before 5.00 p.m. on Friday, 28 August 2020.
