Temporary Closing of Roads

Notice of Decision

Roads Act, 1993

Roads Regulations, 1994

Kildare County Council, at the request of John Sisk and Son Ltd, gives notice in accordance with Section 75 of the Roads Act, 1993 and the Roads Regulations, 1994 that it will close the following road:

 A 60m long section of The Craddockstown Road (L6043) immediately to the south of Craddock House Nursing Home

 From Monday, 24 February 2020 to Friday, 28 February 2020.

 The closure is required to facilitate the site entrance works and installing a new streetlighting column on Craddockstown Road.

Access to Craddockstown Road from Ballycane Road

Access from the Ballycane Road (L3013) along the Craddockstown Road (L6043) will be maintained up to Naas Community College and Craddock House Nursing Home. Through traffic intending to travel from the Ballycane Road (L3013) to the Punchestown Road (L2023) via the Craddockstown Road (L6043) will have to use the alternative route outlined below except for local access noted below.

Access to Craddockstown Road from Punchestown Road

Access from the Punchestown Road (L2023) will be maintained up to approximately 60m south of Craddockstown Nursing Home. Through traffic intending to travel from the Punchestown Road (L2023) to the Ballycane Road (L3013) via the Craddockstown Road (L6043) will have to use the alternative route outlined below except for local access noted below.

Local Access

The only length of road that will be closed will be an approximate 60m long section immediately to the south of Craddock House Nursing Home.

All other access from the Ballycane Road (L3013) and the Punchestown Road (L2023) will not be affected.

To facilitate access to Friendly Faces Creche local access though the closed section of road will be facilitated before 8.30 a.m. and after 5.30 p.m. on the days the road is closed.

Alternative Route

Traffic from Naas will be diverted west along the Ballycane Road (L3013) towards the Ballymore Eustace Roundabout and onto the Naas to Ballymore Eustace Road (R411), then heading south east before turning on to the Punchestown Road (L2023) at the Watchhouse Cross Roads before completing the diversion route.  

Traffic from the Punchestown Road (L2023) and the Craddockstown Road (L6043) junction end will be diverted south west along the Punchestown Road (L2023) towards the Watchhouse Junction turning onto the Naas to Ballymore Eustace Road (R411) heading north west towards Naas before taking the Ballymore Eustace Roundabout and the Ballycane Road before completing the diversion route.

Diversionary routes will be clearly signposted, as agreed with the council and An Garda Síochána. Local and emergency access will be maintained.
