Road Infrastructure

The primary objective of the Transportation Department is to provide a well-maintained public road network, subject to financial and human resource constraints. County Kildare has approximately 2,528 km of public road infrastructure as set out by category below  (Note: This includes public roads within the Town Councils administrative areas):

Motorways 128
National Primary 12
National Secondary 17
Regional Roads 482
Local Roads 1889
Total 2,528

This extensive and heavily trafficked road network requires Kildare County Council to continue to invest heavily in road maintenance and improvement, on all categories of road in the county, over the coming years.
