Hugo Hamilton is the internationally-acclaimed author of The Speckled People, about growing up in Dublin in a household where the speaking of English was banned by his nationalist father.

It’s been translated into 20 languages and won the prestigious Prix Femina Etranger in France, as well as the Berto Prize in Italy, and appeared on the New York Times notable books list.

His recently-published seventh novel Hand In the Fire has been described as “a highly compelling and original view of contemporary Ireland”.
