The Gerard Manley Hopkins Society’s annual literary festival is now in its 23rd year and, in celebration of its recent move to Newbridge College, will stage a truly International evening at Riverbank Arts Centre.

Award-winning Flute-player Diarmuid Johnson (Wales and Poland) will perform on the night, and a group of distinguished writers from across the globe will each read two poems.

Writers include one of the most famous writers in the Arab-speaking world, Salah Niazi of Iraq, whose translation of Joyce’s Ulysses into Arabic has become a bestseller.

The stellar international line-up also features leading poets from Greece, Russia, Finland, Estonia, Czech Republic and Japan, as well as our own Desmond Egan

This event will be in keeping with the Society’s commitment to presenting poetry in a lively and exciting way, proving that real poetry should never be boring.

A unique evening - don’t miss it!

Featured Poets:

Salah Niazi (Iraq); Yiorgos Chouliaras (Greece); Diana Burazar-Delalic (Croatia); Robert Simonisek (Slovenia); Shizue Ogawa (Japan); Riiana Katajavuori  (Finland); Anatoly Kudriavitsky (Russia); Tomas Kafka (Czech Republic); Maarja Kangro (Estonia); Desmond Egan (Ireland).
