Did you know that one of the greatest ever feats of seafaring involved a crew, half of whom were Irish?
Hear all about an epic voyage of Shackleton's lifeboat across the roughest oceans on the planet.

In 1915, Ernest Shackleton was stranded in the Antarctic with a crew of 27, some husky dogs and a cat.
The expedition ship 'Endurance' was crushed and wrecked.
World War 1 was raging nobody knew their whereabouts.
The only way out involved a daring voyage across 1200km of the roughest oceans in the world in a 7m lifeboat.

Shackleton, Tom Crean and Tim McCarthy, along with three others accomplished the feat.
In August 1916 and on the 4th attempt, Shackleton rescued the remaining crew members.
