Walk and Talk at Burtown House & Gardens

With Neil Porteous, head gardener at Mount Stewart, Co Down

The highlight of the next few weeks will be the visit to the garden by Neil Porteous, Head Gardener at Mount Stewart in Co. Down, where he has transformed and restored the wonderful gardens laid out by Lady Edith Londonderry. 

We feel very privileged to have such a distinguished speaker for our "Walk and Talk " as part of the Carlow Garden Festival at the end of July. 

Neil is also Head of all National Trust Gardens in Northern Ireland, and is a knowledgeable and generous speaker. 

Please come and join us at 11.30 am on Friday, 31st July for what promises to be a very interesting morning. The cafe will be open for coffees and delicious lunches cooked by Joanna from all the wonderful recipes she has been dreaming up using wild and garden produce. 

Do book to make sure of a table as her food is becoming very popular, and the restaurant gets very busy. 

In the afternoon the well known English plantsman Roy Lancaster will be at Altamont Gardens, so it should be a great day altogether.
