Naas No. 2 District Council.
The quarterly meeting of the Council was held in Blessington
on Tuesday, the Chairman, Captain Zeller, J.P., presiding.
The other Councillors present were:- Messrs. D. M’Evoy, Jas. McGrath, L. Hanlon, P. Lalor,
M. Healy, M. Mooney, Messrs. D. J. Purcell, M. E. Bergin, B.E., and R.
O. Ramsay, C.E., were also present.
MOTOR CARS.
Mr. McGrath complained of the speed at which motor cars where
driven.– Mr. Hanlon: They should be numbered.– Chairman: I
hope the Press will take cognisance of the matter.
DRIVING A ROYAL DUKE.
FROM THE CURRAGH TO DUBLIN.
The fine new Darracq motor car, owned by Mr. T. Woods of Newbridge,
was the means of enabling a very distinguished personage to fulfill[sic]
his engagements on Saturday last. His Royal Highness, the Duke of Connaught,
was due at an early hour on that day at a Review in the Phoenix Park. The
tyres of his own car got punctured in the morning and he discovered the
extent of the mischief too late to enable him to get the necessary repairs
executed in time. Mr. Woods was approached in this moment of serious difficulty
and embarassment[sic] and he promptly placed his own car at the Duke’s
disposal. The journey was accomplished in a very brief space of time and
the Duke was able to be at his post with gratifying punctuality.
