A Year in the Life

‌Opened by : Ester Crilly.

The photographer was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2013. These pictures inspired and mapped her road to recovery – a journey that took her to Counties Kildare, Sligo, Donegal, Kerry and Clare in Ireland, Cornwall in the UK, Parthenay ‌and Azay-Sur-Thouet in France.

Brid is well travelled. She has always been passionate about photography and has honed her craft through life’s rich adventure. The exhibition reveals an artist whose senses have been sharpened by recent experience, enabling her to capture the emotion and reflect the changing seasons which accompanied each phase of her treatment.

Brid is a primary school teacher in Newbridge, Co. Kildare and divides her leisure time between music and theatre. She is a member of the Kill Singers and vocal harmony group, “Milis”. She has performed previously with the Newbridge and Prosperous Drama Societies and the Newbridge Musical Society.

This exhibition marks the end of a year of both recovery and discovery. The images are those that have brought both comfort and empowerment in adversity and Brid hopes that they may be a source of inspiration to others.

She wishes to acknowledge the support of the Newbridge Cancer Support Group which has been invaluable – and to thank you for your support which will, in turn, benefit the group.

Thanks also to “Milis” who are performing at the opening of the exhibition.
