The branch is part of a nation-wide network. Almost every county in the country has a branch. Some smaller counties may be amalgamated to form a viable unit. The Kildare branch has forty people on its mailing list and these receive regular notices about meetings, social functions and events. Membership of the branch is totally up to each individual and each persons privacy and wishes are respected. The branch support network is there for all patients and there is no pressure to join or become involved in activities.

We hold meetings 8/9 times during the year with a 3 month summer beak. Our annual general meeting is held in February each year during which a new board of officers is elected. We work closely with "Donor House" in co-ordinating local and national events. We have our own representitive on the National Executive Council (N.E.C) and so have a direct line into the decision making process, which affects the individual patient.

Being part of a registered charity all our finances and books are inspected by the IKA auditors each year. There is no membership charge to patients for the first year and after that the rates are as follows

  • Single annual membership 2.00

  • Couple annual membership 3.00

  • Family annual membership 5.00

Our monthly meetings are held in various venues throughout the county in an effort to reach as large a number of our members as possible. In winter, they are normally held on a Sunday afternoon at 3.30pm. In the past we have held meetings in Naas, Kildare town, Athy, Kilcock, Kill and Leixlip. During the long summer evenings we might change to a weekday night.
