In April 1978 the Irish Kidney Association was formed by dialysis patients
and kidney transplant recipients. The membership, which is in excess of 2000, now includes
patients, families and friends all working to improve the lives of people suffering from
chronic renal failure.
The association provides help to newly
diagnosed renal patients as well as continuing to help those already being treated.
It is the only national organisation working
solely in the interest of patients with chronic renal diseases.
