County Kildare Community Network

About Us

The Kildare Community Network is a non-profit company set up to manage and develop the www.kildare.ie website for the benefit of communities in County Kildare. It seeks to maximise the use of ICT in increasing democratic participation, and to provide ICT services free to those who may be disadvantaged or socially excluded.

It also promotes ICT among members of the community and among community and voluntary organisations in County Kildare, encouraging them to participate fully in the information society.

Via the kildare.ie domain, the network enables these individuals and groups gain new audiences, and also access a broad range of relevant information about their county.

The network is based on a vision of community development:

"We believe that the development of the community is assisted by a dynamic interaction between community, voluntary and statutory sectors, working together to promote economic, social, cultural and educational aspects of the county's development."

This Community Network is designed to act as a means of supporting and fulfilling this vision.

The County Kildare Community Network is the product of a partnership of various agencies, the original ones being Action South Kildare (ASK), Kildare County Council, and FÁS.
