Biography:
Luka Bloom is a native of Newbridge, County Kildare. Born as Barry Moore he is the brother of Christy Moore. In 1973 Luka started playing the folk pub and club scene in Dublin.
In the late 80's Luka created his now famous name from the Suzanne Vega hit "Luka" and the hero of James Joyce's Ulysses "Leopold Bloom".
A self confessed "bogman" his music has a resonance that is hard to resist. Luka has worked with renowned and world famous artist's such as Micheal Stipe and Peter Buck from REM.
Around the same time Luka adopted his new name he discovered he had 'carpal tunnel syndrome' which affected his ability to play the Guitar so he changed his playing style. In 1995 Luka recorded and released 'Salty Heaven'. This album was recorded in a mill in Kildare and was inspired by his arrival back in Ireland.
