Gagliano String Quartet Saturday 23rd March
Classical music is on offer on Saturday 23rd of March
next in the intimate environment of the Riverbank Arts Centre in Newbridge,
with the Gagliano String Quartet playing a medley of works by Beethoven
and Hayden.
The individual members of the Gagliano String Quartet
had wide experience in Chamber Music before getting together to form
a quartet. They have been performing together for about three years
and give three to four concerts per year. All four are very active
in the Music Industry in the Dublin area.
The programme for tonight will include, Beethoven's Opus 132 in A
Minor; Quartet No 35, The Lark by Hayden Opus 64 No 5. The quartet
is made up of Christian Tecklenborg, 1st Violin; Christina Connors,
2nd Violin; Christine Meehan, Viola; and Vincent Hunt, (Cello).
Christian Tecklenborg began his violin studies in Germany
and subsequently studied both violin and viola with Prof Ronald Masin
in Dublin. With extensive musicial experience, he has been involved
in chamber music over many years.
Christina Connors, brought up in England, started her
early music career at the Welsh College of Music & Drama under
the direction of Suzanne Stanseleit. She has also taken part in masterclasses
with such famous music groups as the Brodsky String Quartet.
Christine Meehan began her viola studies with Sheila
Cronin in Newry, and continued them while studying languages at the
Queen's University of Belfast. While there, she participated in string
quartet classes with Heinz Hammerslag, developing her love of the
vast repertoire of the medium.
Vincent Meehan was a student of Clare Mathews and Maurice
Meulen in Belfast, and studied quartets with Heinz Hammerslag. Forming
with his sisters, Una and Fionnuala the Hunt Piano Trio, they toured
Europe while Vincent completed his cello studies firstly with Amadeo
Baldovino in Rome, and afterwards with Franco Rossi in Florence.
