This exciting collaboration began in August 2004 when Steffan Jones-Hughes visited Ireland on a CCAT Interreg Go and See grant. He met with Margaret Becker and they talked about the potential for a print exchange.

In October 2006 discussions were followed by exchange visits between artists from the Regional Print Centre, Wales, and the Leinster Printmaking Studio, Clane, Co. Kildare.

The current coordinators for the project are Alison Craig and Monica de Bath. As a result of initial communication, artist twins or working groups were established and themes of land/language /place/sense of home/ belonging were decided on as a starting point for the collaborative
work.

Since then working prints, drawings, collages, electronic communications & text have travelled back and forth across the Irish sea with each artist responding to work sent by his/her partner/s, and further visits between working groups.

The aim of this project is to further the professional development of artists, and by taking people out of their comfort zone, to push the
boundaries in the way artists develop their print practice. Artists have found that the experience has also led to innovative developments in
other areas of their creative work.

In May 2008 a three-week exhibition at Riverbank Arts Centre, Newbridge, Co Kildare aims to show work in progress from this exciting
collaboration. This exhibition will provide a unique opportunity for other artists and the general public to examine and engage with the
working process and some of the artists involved. A promotional publication will also be launched at the exhibition opening on 15 may.

Exhibitions to show the completed work from this project will take place at The Graphic Studio, Dublin,(confirmed) the Lucy Tormey Studio and Gallery, Mullingar. Other venues have been proposed in Ireland, Wales and Australia in 2009.

The welsh artists taking part are: Veronica Callarco, Jane Copeman, Alison Craig, Linda Davies, Steffan Jones-Hughes, Eirian Llwyd, Terry
Mart, Jeanette Orrell, Andrew Smith, Diane Williams & Ian Williams.

The Irish artists are Margaret Becker, Monica De Bath, Pamela De Bri, Rebecca Homfray, Eileen Keane, Eilis Mc Cann, Liam O Broin, Deirdre
Shanley, Sarah Symes.
