What's more, you're in luck as there's an evening of one acts coming soon.  Three Short Plays runs from Wednesday 24th to Saturday 27th September at the Moat Theatre.

The three short plays in the title are La Corbière, Act Without Words II and He Said and She Said

David Cullinane directs La Corbière, by Anne Le Marquand Hartigan, a play which started life as a poem written in response to the tale of French prostitutes who were shipwrecked at La Corbière lighthouse off the Jersey coast during WW2.  Le Marquand Hartigan reworked the poem as a one act play for a cast of six and it premiered in the Dublin Theatre Festival of 1989, getting the following notice from the Irish Press: "Anne Hartigan has articulated the submerged voices of women everywhere in a poignant interplay of words that express the gamut of women's emotions in daily life...".  David Cullinane, directing, hopes to evoke the sea and its power to destroy and also to heal in this lyrical and very visual play.

Paul O'Brien tackles a short Beckett play, Act Without Words II, in which two characters act out ad infinitum their daily routines which are almost identical yet different, not just because of the different tasks they carry out but also because of their contrasting states of mind.  Those of you who saw the Moat Club's production of Waiting for Godot will see echoes of Vladamir and Estragon in this funny little play.

Sandra O'Rourke Glynn deals with the universal and timeless pastime of gossip in the comedy He Said and She Said by Alice Gerstenberg. Though over 100 years old, the play is still relevant and shows how gossip, even among the closest of friends, can cause havoc in relationships.  This performance will be a reading (actors will have their scripts on stage).
