From the award winning Garrett Keogh and Lane Productions, the company who brought us Stones in His Pockets, comes the remarkable Setanta Murphy.

This unforgettable story of a bond between a Grand Uncle and his Nephew had a sell out run at Bewleys Cafe Theatre on Grafton Street in June 2008 and later in October 2009 it returned to the New Theatre by popular demand for another run. Now, see this fantastic play at Riverbank Arts Centre, Newbridge, for one night only on Saturday May 29th.

Starring the well-known TV stars Luke Griffin and Garrett Keogh, this promises to be a funny and unforgettable journey through the healthcare system in Ireland, an experience that many people will identify with.

Setanta Murphy is a young man with a lot of time on his hands. Paddy is his Grand Uncle a cantankerous old 90 year old man with a razor sharp tongue that spends his days around town and his nights at the dog track. When Paddy get sick, they are thrown into the messy world of public hospitals until Paddy find himself in a nursing home, plotting his escape.

This is a touching and funny story of a relationship between an old man and his nephew as they attempt to navigate their way through the ups and downs of the Irish Health System.

The cast includes:

Luke Griffin as Setanta Murphy – The Clinic, Pure Mule- RTE, Band of Brothers – HBO, The Disappearance of Finbar.

Garrett Keogh as Paddy Murphy –Veronica Guerin , A Love Divided and The Clinic.

Garrett has written and directed the piece and will also star as Paddy Murphy. He has had numerous successes as an actor, playwright and director. Garrett directed the first productions of new theatre work: Charlie O’Neill’s ‘Rosie and Starwars’ (Stewart Parker Award), Gerard Mannix Flynn’s ‘Talking to the Wall’ (Fringe First, Edinburgh), Paula Meehan’s ‘Cell’, and Heathcote Williams’ ‘Hancock’s Last half-Hour’ (Irish premiere).Garrett directed an RTE TV documentary series about old people, ‘Old Heads’. He also scripted and narrated the TV documentary ‘Juno in Jerusalem’. He has written articles for The Irish Times, The Irish Independent, In Dublin, and Image Magazine. He was awarded the inaugural Oireachtas TV Drama Script Award.
