The Riverbank Arts centre is delighted to welcome local distinguished
poet Desmond Egan who will perform with renowned UK poet, Robert Minhinnick.
Desmond lives in Co. Kildare and is a full time writer. He has published
16 Books of poetry and in 1983 he received the National Poetry Foundation
of USA Award and in 1996 received an honorary Doctorate in Literature
from Washburn University and among others the Bologna Literary Award
in Italy, 1998 who is from the green valleys of Wales..
Robert Minhinnick edits the international quarterly magazine Poetry
Wales. Author of 6 collections of poetry, he has won the Cholmodeley
Award and The Forward Prize for best individual Poem, 1999. He also
enjoys a high reputation as a translator, especially of modern Welsh
poetry. His essays achieved Welsh Book of the Year in 1993. He works
for the environment charity Sustainable Wales and as a freelance Writer.
