The Riverbank Arts centre is delighted to welcome one of the most
exciting violinists to have emerged in Europe in recent years, Isabelle
Faust has the ability to delight and stun audiences in equal
measure with the virtuosity, sensitivity and passion of her playing.
A top prize-winner at numerous competitions, in 1997 she was awarded
the Gramophone ‘Young Artist of the Year' award for her début
recording of sonatas by Bartók.
Isabelle has toured extensively throughout Europe as well as in Israel
and Japan, performing with major orchestras such as the Munich Philharmonic
Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Hamburg
Philharmonic Orchestra under Sir Yehudi Menuhin. Her considerable repertoire
extends from the Baroque period through to contemporary works by Jörg
Widmann, Morton Feldman and György Ligeti.
On her Music Network tour, Isabelle is accompanied by award-winning
pianist Florent Boffard , who from 1988 to 1999 was
the soloist of Ensemble InterContemporain where he worked with several
of today's most prominent composers including Pierre Boulez, Luciano
Berio, György Ligeti and György Kurtág.
