Annual Exhibition of work by the AKA
(Association of Kildare Artists)
Sunday 9th to Friday 28th November 2003
Riverbank Arts Centre

_____________________________________

This group exhibition by members of the AKA (Association of Kildare Artists) is becoming an annual event at the Riverbank Arts Centre. The AKA’s members are professional artists drawn from all parts of County Kildare, exhibiting their work during the year nationally and internationally. A representative group of AKA members shows their work collectively during the AKA annual exhibition.

The annual exhibition for 2003 will be officially launched at the Riverbank Arts Centre on Sunday 9th November at 4.00 pm, and will be open to the public for three weeks. Approximately 40 works are divided between the two gallery spaces at the Riverbank.

Participating artists work in a wide range of media, including sculpture, painting, print, and mixed media. This is a show which has something in it to appeal to all tastes, with representational and abstract works on exhibit. The theme of this year’s show is Time and Space, a concept which is widely explored by all of the works on display.

Membership of the AKA is drawn from throughout Kildare, with artists from Athy, Prosperous, Naas, Newbridge, Celbridge, Kilcullen and Rathangan, and a broad cross-mix of long-established artists such as Eamonn J Keenan and Patrick Cahill, and emerging artists such as Niamh Hynan and Michael Rowley.

A growing appreciation of contemporary art and its appeal should tempt many to visit the show, and, perhaps, to begin their own private collection with some of the best artworks that Kildare-based artists have to offer.

The exhibition will be open to the public from Monday 10th November until Friday 28th November 2003, and will be on view in both galleries.

Gallery opening hours are Monday to Saturday 10am to 1pm, and 2pm to 5pm.
