Hot Shots (Young Kildare Film Makers)Riverbank Arts Centre Newbridge American ParadisoAlan Lundegaard is an unusual man. He falls in love with his best friend’s ex-girlfriend, Lisa. But, for Alan happiness only exists when he is surrounded by chaos. During a live television performance, Alan burns the American flag and is arrested. From here Alan’s life spirals downward. Written, directed by, and starring Joseph O’Malley this film was made over the summer of 2002, the cast comprising of members of the Kildare Youth Theatre. This short film is the first by the19 year old O’Malley, who is currently filming his second, ‘After Nightfall’ Battle of the BandsRiverbank hosted the Battle of the Bands last year and the final was filmed by young Newbridge filmmakers. This exciting film of the final showcases the wealth of talent in the county, the fun the young people had on the night and the quality of our emerging film-makers. Concrete Doesn’t BurnA roller-blading film from Newbridge, filmed and edited by Ciaran Dwyer and Rob Mockler, proving that there is more to roller-blading than meets the public eye. Concrete Doesn’t Burn features profiles of Newbridge’s best street skaters, showcasing individual styles and trick vocabularies, but also showing their common love of, and dedication to, their sport.
