MADE IN KILDAREA three-day dance event, which presents the vision and choreography of Cathy O'Kennedy in her role as Dance Artist in Residence in County Kildare. Performances, workshops and a showcase will reflect some of achievements of Cathy O'Kennedy's tenure as dance artist in residence for County Kildare. Performed by members of Fluxusdance - Kildare's own professional dance group formed by O'Kennedy in 1998 - Made in Kildare is a multi-faceted series of formal and informal dance experiences which all take place at Riverbank on April 4th to 6th. The Time and Motion Dance Showcase is a unique "come see" event for the general public and those interested in producing and/or presenting dance events. Its an opportunity to see the range of work created during the Time and Motion project, an annual dance development event in Kildare initiated by Cathy O'Kennedy along with the Arts and Library Service of Kildare County Council and The arts Council. In Made in Kildare - The Performance, Fluxusdance will present a programme of three diverse dance theatre works, a blend of the spiritual, the scientific and the downright quirky! Bridie, a work about Brigid, the saint and goddess; Morphic Fields, inspired by the unique bog landscape near Rathangan; and You Can't Kill a Button which is a light-hearted look at phobias and talk radio. We will liase with local and national talk-radio show to encourage people to talk about their phobias on air and these conversations will be part of the sound track to the work. Video and text are integrated into the performances with music ranging from Lutoslawski to Luka Bloom. For children under the age of ten, The Magic of Dance is a two-hour performance/workshop experience during which children create and perform their own dances together with those created by the dancers of Fluxusdance on the themes of magic, myth and mystery. A sell-out when it toured libraries in County Kildare in 2001, early booking is highly advised.
